Abstract
This course is an introduction to the theory of functions of a complex variable. We aim to cover most of chapters 1-6, 8, and 9. The material includes the basic properties of the complex numbers system, analytic functions and the Cauchy-Riemann Equations, complex exponential, logarithmic, and trigonometric functions, complex integration, complex power series, residues, and mappings of the complex plane. During the weekly scheduled meeting, we will discuss the reading and homework assignments, paying particular attention to the proofs of major theorems. It is expected that the homework to be handed in will be complete before this meeting. Students are welcome to schedule additional meetings during the week.
