Abstract
The Butcher Shop building was designed in 1904 by architects Alsup and Woods. It is located at 101 South Front Street in Downtown Memphis. The building is in Beaux-Arts architecture style. The building is now abandoned, but it was originally a warehouse and then a restaurant. The building is made of brick. The building is practically covered with bas relief ornamentation. There are large amounts of quoining on the fa�ade of the building. Rustication was also used in this building to give it a textured effect. The textured effect of the fa�ade is also created by the large blind arch. The dates 1860 and 1909 appear on the fa�ade along with the word ?Excelsior,? were added after the original construction of the building, presumably in 1909.
