Here, Ronald Walter recalls becoming Chief Administrative Assistant to congressman Harold Ford between 1977 and 1981 and how being African American influenced the political strategies carried out by Senator Ford. He also discusses the forms of discrimination from both within and without the African American community, and how economic development is the key to progressing civil rights.
