Abstract
These shotgun houses are located at 598 North 3rd street in the North Memphis area. These houses were built in the 1890s by an unknown architect. The houses are Classical in style and made of wood. The houses themselves are quite plain with only a pop of color to brighten them up and are in a sad condition today. Two of the houses have pitched roofs and the third has a jerkinhead roof. They have shingle roofs and blind windows that function as vents. To learn more see Memphis: An Architectural Guide by Eugene J. Johnson.
