Abstract
We will develop the skills of critical analysis and writing papers with sources using John Storey’s Cultural Studies and the Study of Popular Culture as our guide. Drawing on Storey’s introduction to theories and methods of cultural studies, we will read a variety of cultural texts—novels, stories, essays, song lyrics and visual texts—and critically examine issues of media, communication, reception and representation in contemporary American culture.
