Abstract
This image is from a collection created by Etta Hanson and given to the College in 1954. All items are from Otto Ege's estate. The leaf was contained and mounted in a mat created by Otto Ege, as were all other leaves in this collection. There is a typed description at the bottom of the mat, which reads: "Imprynted at London in Fletestrete at the signe of the Sunne over agaynst the conduyte by Edwarde Whitchurche
A revision by Coverdale of Matthew’s Bible under the patronage of Thomas Cromwell; hence sometimes knowns as “Cromwell’s Bible”. The first editions were largely folios. In 1538 an order was given to the clergy that “one bike of the whole Bible, in the largest volume, in Englyshe, sett up in summe convenyent place within the church that ye have cure of, whereat your parishioners may most commodiously resort to the same and rede yt.” (Darlow and Moule 49)"
