Abstract
This is a picture of a still life in a living room with two chairs and a table, in bright colors. The chairs are wicker and the table is red. The artist's signature is in red in the bottom right corner "BERLIN." It is framed in white wood without glass. On the canvas back it has the dimensions in graphite reading "32 1/4 x 28 1/4" in the top right corner. On the bottom center on the frame in red marker it has "89.148." Artist biography: Valerie Berlin is an American artist who focuses on color and humor in her work. She graduated from Central High School in Memphis, Tennessee in 1970 and from Rhodes College with a B.A. in Art in 1974. During her time at Rhodes, Berlin studied under the late Mary Sims, Lawrence "Lon" Anthony, and Peter Bowman, all noted Mid-South artists. Berlin's work is in the permanent collection at Rhodes College, as well as a part of the corporate collection of Smith and Nephew, Inc., Plough Inc., and Baptist's Women's Center, as well as numerous private collections. Berlin was also the commissioned artist for the 1991 Memphis in May poster honoring New Zealand.
