Abstract
The primary objectives of this course are to train students to formulate sound research questions and to find answers to those questions using qualitative research methods. All of the research done in this course will be done in the context a larger research project that is directed by Dr. Person. Students will be introduced to a body of psychological research related to effective methods of tutoring, teaching and learning. Students will learn about effective tutoring strategies, tutorial dialogue, motivational techniques, human emotion, and conversational discourse and will leave the course with knowledge of the psychological research methodologies that are used to evaluate effective tutoring practices, emotion, and conversational discourse.
