Abstract
This is a sculpture of a seated woman with legs folded and hands on the sides of the figure’s head. There is a book on the figure’s lap. It is sitting on an attached base that is carved along with the sculpture. Underneath the sculpture is a piece of felt with an information sticker that reads “Artist Vaughan, Jerry (student) / Title “Woman reading” Date 1963 / Medium redwood sculpture / Acquired student purchase award Date 1963 / Location” and in red ink “89.121” with a silver sticker that reads “PROPERTY OF / SOUTHWESTERN AT MEMPHIS/ No. 13121”.
