Abstract
Thai, late 19th early 20th century. Vessantara Jataka (old Buddhist story from India dealing with Last Previous Life of the Buddha). Everything being miraculously returned, including rain-giving elephant, the home town invites Prince Cessantara back. This painting shows joyful reunion between Prince, wife, two children, two grandparents. The painting is held by a dark wooden frame. There is a sticker on the back of frame which reads, "78.0114 Thai Painting 19th-20th century Vessantara Jataka".

This object was photographed and inventoried during summer 2017 by Jane Esklidsen '19 and Reagan Alley '18. It was uploaded to DLynx during fall 2018.
