Abstract
This is a portrait of William Addison Alexander wearing black regalia and a black and purple hood. He is sitting in a chair with his right hand on the arm of the chair and his left hand in his lap. He is seated in front of a dark background. The portrait is framed in a dark brown decorative frame with a plaque in the bottom’s center that reads “WILLIAM ADDISON ALEXANDER / 1857-1909 / SOUTHWESTERN PRESBYTERIAN UNIVERSITY / Professor of Biblical Languages and Literature / 1892-1909. The portrait has a lot of paint chipping off as well as the frame. The artist’s signature “Earl Bradbury” is in black in the top right corner of the piece.
