Abstract
The original Cossitt Goodwyn library was built in 1893 by architect M. L. B. Wheeler. It was a red sandstone, Romanesque building. It was torn down in 1958 and the current Cossitt Library was built shortly afterwards by the architects of Office of Walk C. Jones, Jr. E. L. Harrison’s addition to the original Cossitt Library was built in 1924 and still stands today. The new library is modern in style. It stands on pilotis. The upper floors are glass and covered in louvers. The building is located at 33 South Front Street in Downtown Memphis. The building is made of glass and stone.
