Abstract
Artist's statement: "This piece was failure in making the material do what I had intended it to do; however, the failure became the piece. The piece ended up being about my failure in sculpture, my failure in planning, and my failure in material, which I ended up loving. I love how hard I tried and how I kept loosing the fight; for me, that was the success of the piece. However, moving forward I wish I had recorded my repeated failure and attempts and had shown that along side the end product. I wish I had shared more of my process and struggle. If I could redo the piece, I would have photographed or videotaped my countless hours struggling to make a successful cast of a plate and other material struggles. This piece is very much aligned with a past piece I did about failure, destruction, and repair installed on a wall so it coheres well with my body of work, which is a success."
