Abstract
Gwen Robinson Awsumb graduated from Southwestern at Memphis in 1937. She was an elected member of the Memphis City Council and an activist for civil rights. Her stand against busing and support of the sanitation workers are included in the book "You Must Be from the North: Southern White Women in the Memphis Civil Rights ..." by Kimberly K. Little.
