Abstract
Poplar Plaza was opened in 1949 and designed by architect Everett D. Woods. It is located on Poplar Avenue between Prescott Street and Highland Street in the East Memphis district. The building is made of travertine. The plaza features stainless steel acroterion at what is now Osaka. There is a portico supported by a colonnade around the façade of the various shops. There is an eave surrounding some of the buildings with a second story. All of the windows are fixed and in a strip. The Plaza most closely resembles Modern architecture style.
