Abstract
General Description: This medal was issued by the Italian Commercial Technical Institute in Rome when it was known as the Istituto Tecnico Commerciale di Stato Michelangiolo, Roma. Founded in 1871, it was the first such institute in Italy and today is part of the larger umbrella of the IIS Leonardo da Vinci and is still located on the same premises at via Cavour 258.
Obverse Description: The obverse features a relief of a right side portrait view of Michelangelo with the encircling inscription "ISTITUTO TECNICO COMMERCIALE DI STATO MICHELANGIOLO, ROMA." It is signed "S. JOHNSON" at the bottom of the portrait.
