Abstract
This is a portrait of Dr. John Quincy Wolf in oil. Quincy is dressed in black regalia with a blue hood and a red and blue striped tie.. He is holding something in his hand and is not looking directly at the viewer. The artist’s signature “TOM DONAHUE” is in red at the lower right corner of the piece. The portrait is hung in a decorative gold frame with a plaque at the bottom center that reads “DR. JOHN QUINCY WOLF / 1901-1972 / PROFESSOR OF ENGLISH / 1937-1971 / A.B., ARKANSAS COLLEGE; A.M., VANDERBILT UNIVERSITY; / PH.D. JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY / BELOVED AND RESPECTED TEACHER, NATIONALLY-KNOWN FOLKLORIST / DEDICATED OCTOBER 7, 1989”.
