Abstract
Born out of the civil and political unrest of the late 1960's, Ginger wanted to start anew, making a magazine that was "...literate, but not literary..." and challenged itself to remain relevant to the world around it, according to the preface of the first issue, and being seen in the "Memphis Sounding" of the first couple of issues, advertising goings on in Memphis.
