Abstract: This course offers an introduction to the theoretical work that has both influenced and arisen from feminist and queer politics as they have developed over the last two centuries. We will cover the modern “origins” of western feminism, the debates within feminism around race, class, sexuality, and religion, the emergence of queer theory and sexuality studies, and the influence of postcolonial studies on feminism and queer theory.
