Abstract: | Court Case Exhibit C - Race. Commercial Appeal editorial on black Memphis schools being underfunded. Race and Politics. Includes a political cartoon by Bill Garner. The cartoon depicts Mayor Chandler taking money from the hand of a small black boy in ragged clothes who is labeled "Memphis Schools." Chandler speaks to the young boy, saying "An' we'll take them clothes you got on too, boy!" Chandler is putting the money into a sack labeled "City Budget," which is held by a man labeled "City Council." |
