The proposed name for the new College in Memphis was Southwestern, the College of the Mississippi Valley. The image at the top of the document shows an artist's conception of the buildings. The lower image is a photograph of the land being cleared for the new campus with the help of donkeys and carts. Some trees have been cut down with the wood stacked in piles. Missouri Railway cars that arrive on campus by way of a railway spur are in the background and are hidden by the piles of cut wood.
