It was taken facing roughly south. The woman is descending the staircase and approaching an open area. The main focus of the photograph, however, is another staircase with an open space at the top of it, the main entrance of the palace (known as the Grand Staircase). Landscape of mountains and a valley is visible in the distance.en-USRhodes College owns the rights to the archival digital images in this repository.
