Chinese Fan Painting

Abstract

This painting depicts a fan that has a gold outline and images painted inside. Inside of the fan is a nature scene that consists of green islands in a dark blue body of water. On the islands are many trees that are tan and brown and several building structures with fences that resemble homes. The trees are much taller than the buildings. In the distance beyond the islands in the foreground, there are other islands with bright green mountains rising up from them. The mountains are outlined in yellow. Above the mountains and hovering in the deep blue background of the sky/water are several lines of chinese characters in gold and red. The fan is painted onto a surface that appears to be some sort of cloth, and it is a light green. The image is held by a thin gold frame.
