Abstract: Thai, late 19th early 20th century. Vessantara Jataka (old Buddhist story from India dealing with Last Previous Life of the Buddha). Elephant being driven away. The people of Vessantara's town, annoyed at the Prince's giving away of the rain producing elephant, ask his father to banish him. The painting is held by a dark wooden frame. There is a sticker on the back of frame which reads, "78.0103 Thai Painting 19th-20th century Vessantara Jataka".
Description: This object was photographed and inventoried during summer 2017 by Jane Esklidsen '19 and Reagan Alley '18. It was uploaded to DLynx during fall 2018.
