Abstract: "The most frequently engraved and widely disseminated theatrical portrait of the eighteenth century, this iconic image simultaneously established Garrick as the quintessential tragedian and inuagurated the whole tradition of large scale Shakespearean painting." A depiction of Hogarth's painting of David Garrick in Act 5 Scene 3 of Richard III. The scene is in the tent before the Battle of Bosworth as Richard is tormented by ghosts. The words "Give me another horse--Bind up my wounds." appear at the bottom of the print.
