Abstract
This is likely a photograph from a book or textbook of the area called the Queen's Megaron at Knossos. The illustration is of presumably a Minoan Queen and her ladies in waiting. There are nine women depicted in the illustration. Five of the women are wearing opulent gowns and elaborate hairstyles. Of these women, two appear to be engaging in some sort of fiber arts, two are playing a board game on the floor and one is carrying a ceramic cup. Out of the four other women, one is naked holding a mirror while two women tend to her. The three women on the left side of the illustration are dressed much less lavishly than the five women on the right. This indicates a difference in social status. All of the women are dressed very similarly to the Snake Godess figurine with elaborate hairstyles, exposed breasts, and tiered skirts. in the bottom right corner there is text reading, "IN THE QUEEN'S APARTMENT. ladies in wait[ing]."
