Abstract
COURSE DESCRIPTION: This course is an introduction to research methods in the social sciences. It is divided into three sections. In the first part of the course, we go over basic concepts and issues related to conducting research, such as the pursuit of objectivity, interpretation and explanation, as well as ethics and relevance. Second, we experiment with various types of research techniques, from ethnography to statistics. Third, we design a research project selected by the student in a step-by-step manner. While the goal of the course is not to produce a finished and conclusive research analysis, it provides the necessary foundation for doing so in future semesters.
