General Description: Uniface medal with bust of Michelangelo facing right.
Obverse Description: The obverse features a right side profile portrait of Michelangelo with the inscription "MICHAEL ANGELUS BONARROTIUS" (Michelangelo Buonarroti) in the surround, including the inscription of "PRÄGE J. CHRISTLBAUER" on the bottom.
Reverse Description: The reverse is blank.
Historical Context:
Artist Biography: Josef Christian Christlbauer (1827 – 1897) was from Vienna and worked also in Prague. He was prolific and many medals are listed in Forrer.
