Abstract
Description
Here, Lillie Wheeler Jones recounts her "grassroots" campaign work in coordination with the NAACP and SCDC for Russell Sugarmon's run for Commissioner and later for President John F. Kennedy. She describes how direct community contact was the most effective means of forming a cohesive political front and how leadership in the African American community ought to be accessible.
