This is an interview with Rachel Shankman, who is the director of the Memphis Facing History and Ourselves project. The daughter of Jewish Holocaust survivors, Ms. Shankman describes how her religious background influenced her outlook as a University of Memphis student during the Civil Rights Movement. She also explains how her personal experiences drive her work with the Facing History and Ourselves initiative.
