The Journal was first published by students in the Stewart Literary Society and the Washington Irving Literary Society in the mid-1880s. The first available issue is dated February 1893 and was published at Southwestern Presbyterian University. The Journal was meant to stimulate literary activities through publications of essays, short stories, poems. It also reported on matters of general interest to the students. These scans have been made from the original when available, but many are made from photocopies.
